Booze raid on Dryden Road, 1920s

Through the 1920s the sale of alcohol was illegal in the U.S., however alcoholic drinks were still widely available at "speakeasies" and other underground drinking establishments. The Eighteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibitied the manufacture and sale of alcohol in 1920 but was repealed in 1933 with the Twenty-first Amendment.
